Each year we host our annual Horizons at Greene Street Friends School spring fundraising event. This year, our theme is “Wonderland” and we invite you to join us alongside our students as we revel in wonder at their many accomplishments!
Unfortunately for many students, they experience the “summer slide,” and can lose up to 3-4 months of learning, starting the new school year at a stark disadvantage. The Horizons model centers project-based learning and a “whole-child” approach to education in an effort to combat the traditional loss of learning in the summer. As a result of our program, students will grow six weeks or more in their reading and mathematical skills, develop social-emotional competencies like the ability to develop positive relationships with their peers, and develop the ability to swim. We are also intentional about providing encouragement and support to our students so they establish and maintain a positive self-identity.
Our spring event is the one major fundraiser we host each year. We hope you will help us make this event a success by sponsoring this fun-filled evening in support of our program and students.
