Serving Children from Germantown on the campus of Greene Street Friends School

Program Elements

Our focus on literacy and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) programming inspires students to learn, achieve, and experience greater academic success. But most of all, we instill a love of learning. Our program also includes swimming instruction, breakfast and lunch, field trips, recreation, arts, and an overall emphasis on family involvement.

We embrace this same educational philosophy and highly-customizable curriculum. We train teachers with the Horizons teaching philosophy and give them the freedom to create inspiring, energized classrooms. Every Horizons program is unique, yet they all share core elements.

Students

Horizons WORKS – and our students are proof. Horizons students are bright, engaged learners who come to Horizons with a broad range of skills and ideas to contribute to the world and our community. Horizons students all qualify for free and reduced lunch through the School Nutrition Program, and reflect the diversity within our broader Germantown community.

Teaching

Horizons Lead Teachers are paid professionals who come from public schools, independent schools, and universities to all working together. Our small class sizes (with a 15:2 student to teacher ratio) and our student-centered approach to hands-on learning brings our teachers, students, and families back summer after summer.
